Civic Exchange commissioned the Hong Kong Transition Project to conduct the following surveys in order to gauge Hong Kong citizens’ attitudes to current political issues.
Hong Kong Constitutional Reform: What do the People Want?Key findings include support for directly electing the Chief Executive has slipped slightly to 66 percent, while support for directly electing Legislative Council members remains stable at 72 percent.
Constitutional Reform Survey 2005: Reforming the Chief Executive ElectionResults indicate a 46 percent plurality supporting direct elections for the Chief Executive in 2007, with an additional 63 percent that believe direct elections would mean fairer policies.
Constitutional Reform Survey 2005: Reforming the Legislative CouncilThis survey shows that a majority of 52 percent support direct LegCo elections by 2008, while 60 percent believe functional constituencies should be abolished step by step, opposed to all at once or not at all.
