Breakfast briefing on competition in PRD
Civic Exchange organised a breakfast briefing to launch its new report - Beyond the Pearl River Delta: The Contest Begins".
The new report, written by Edith Terry, published by Civic Exchange and sponsored by Latitude Capital Group notes that the world's great cities, including Hong Kong, are rivals for creative and financial capital, jobs, and quality of life. Hong Kong and its first-tier urban neighbours in the Pearl River Delta – Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Macau – are adjusting to a new era of competition as Guangdong's economy decouples from that of Hong Kong's. Hong Kong's adjustment may be the hardest, since up until now it has been the leader in terms of depth of capital and human resources. In the new era, can Hong Kong re-style itself as the Zurich of China or what may it morph into?
Jonathan Anderson, UBS and Christine Loh, Civic Exchange moderated the discussion.
