Conference on "Climate Change and Asia"

Civic Exchange and Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) co-organised a public conference on "Climate Change and Asia: Risks, Opportunities and Policies 2008" in Singapore.

Globalisation has allowed for economic growth amongst regional players in Asia, but has also intensely aggravated the environment. China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand and the ASEAN countries will not be able to celebrate their success in a true sense unless their success accompanies workable solutions for the problem of climate change. The SIIA and Civic Exchange firmly believe that climate change issues should be placed in all nations' agenda as individual awareness alone does not improve the immediate situation. Regional cooperation should be dealt jointly and actively and we would like to invite you to join us in this advocacy.

The conference aimed to educate the public towards the risks, opportunities and cooperation on climate change in Asia, and possible strategies to tackle the issue of Climate Change.
