CIWEM-HK Technical Meeting
On 15th July, 2008, Christine Loh (CEO, Civic Exchange) and Prof. C.M. Wong (Associate Professor, HKU) presented the groundbreaking study which reveals the sever health impacts of air pollution in southern China region that are having on economic development.
Civic Exchange; the Department of Community Medicine, School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong University (HKU); the Department of Community and Family Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK); and the Institute for the Environment at HKUST collaborated to produce the report – A Price Too High: The Health Impacts of Air Pollution in Southern China, with each university contributing scientific analysis on the magnitude and community impact of air pollution and Civic Exchange integrating them. The HKU estimates of morbidity, mortality and health-related costs of air pollution in Hong Kong, Macao and the Pearl River Delta and the CUHK literature review of academic publications are published separately as stand-alone documents including the full range of original data and figures.
